Updates – More For District 4

Dear Friends,

As we enter the holiday season, it is important to reflect on the year thus far and I want to express my gratitude for your continued engagement, and commitment to ensuring that every resident of Mecklenburg County can experience a high quality of life.

As your Commissioner, I have been working diligently to address the needs and concerns of our district, advocating for affordable housing, small business support, social services, parks and rec, greenways, environment, and equitable access to educational opportunities for County residents.

FOR THE DISTRICT.
FOR THE PEOPLE.
FOR THE FUTURE.

H.O.M.E.S. Program

Mecklenburg County recognizes that homeownership is the most important investment many residents make in their lifetime. The Helping Out Mecklenburg homeowners with Economic Support (HOMES) Program is accepting applications through Dec. 15. This year, the County partnered with the City of Charlotte to provide additional grant funding to qualifying residential homeowners to help address the rising costs of retaining their homes. Grant funds will be paid to the Mecklenburg County Tax Collector, qualifying residents may receive up to $660 if awarded the maximum amount for both grants.

Thanks to all the community leaders that were able to join me for the Compost Central Recycle Tour!

Compost Central Recycle Tour –This tour provided community leaders an opportunity to learn about the inner workings of the Compost Central Recycling Center ahead of the development of a comparable recycling center on Monroe Rd. Attendees also had the opportunity to contribute to the County’s Environmental Action Framework.

Meet & Greet with the new Economic Development Director, Roger Johnson.
Economic Development is an important component for the future of District 4. I was delighted to host a conversation at Manolo’s Bakery with our new Economic Director, Roger Johnson.

As we continue through the holidays, let us remember to express our gratitude for the strength and resilience of our community. Despite the challenges we have faced, we continually see neighbors coming together to support one another, demonstrating the true spirit of unity and compassion.

In closing, we want to express our gratitude once again for your continued trust and support. Commissioner Jerrell remains committed to serving you and working towards creating a stronger, more inclusive District 4. We wish you and your loved ones a happy and safe Holidays.

Onward!

Mark Jerrell
